Halloween Cards... Part 1

Every morning as I'm making Rainee's lunch for school, I put a little love note on her napkin to go along with the little lunch-box card I've made for her. I change out the lunch-box card once a month but she always has a new napkin love note every day. It's our thing. I think it's important she knows I am with her even when I'm not right there... and this is my way of showing her... I'm there. Then every day on our way home, she tells me about her little napkin love note and how much it meant to her.

So, now that we're on our 3rd month of school, I needed to do a new lunch-box card for her... and since it's Halloween this month, I decided to go with that theme. As I was getting started on the card, Rainee came over to make sure I was using the fuzzy kitty-cat and the silly witch.... for some odd reason she liked her and wanted it on her card. Here is her October Halloween themed lunch-box card.... Inside I always write something special just for her. I read it to her, then we put it in a baggie for her lunch box. A baggie you may ask... well that is because last months lunch-box card was nearly distroyed with her left over drink which she forgot to throw away. So we've both learned... she throws away her unfinished drinks (so everything doesn't get wet) AND... I've learned, I put her cute lunch-box cards in baggies (so I don't have a crying child upset because her lunch-box card is ruined). Live and learn....

Anyway... while I was doing the lunch-box-card... I got on a roll of making Halloween cards. I was having so much fun... I just kept going... so I'll show you a couple today and more tomorrow...

With this first card I fell in love with these rub-ons and thought they'd make a cute card... I loved the green eyes of the cat and the mouse climbing on it's tail.... how could you not write EEK! on the card....
On my next little card, I used scraps from this cute ghost pattern paper and a few stickers... I love love love that haunted house sticker... and of couse I had to add some more googly eyes to those ghosts.... silly but fun.
This last card is super simple... from the pattern paper, I cut out the zig-zag and punched out a skull then added another silly googly eye. For the sentiment inside... I used one from the Hero Arts Happy Halloween stamp set which says... "may your Halloween be filled with sweets and smiles"... I thought it went perfectly with that skull's cute little smile.

That's it for today... I'll have the rest to show you tomorrow... have a lovely Wednesday!

  3. DARLING cards, as ALWAYS, Michelle!

I've been putting love notes in Bryn's lunch every single day since she started going to school. I can count on 1 hand how many times I've forgot to stick one in her lunch in the last 3+ years. I agree that it's a great way to stay connected while they're gone and I imagine it makes Rainee smile just as much as it does for Bryn. :-)
