Have you ever had one of those days that was one of your happiest and before the day was done it was also one of your saddest?
Well, that was yesterday. Happy news first... we've been in the process of buying a new home, and found out it will all go through... yeah!!! With all the mortgage/banking/loan changes these days you never know if it's going to go through... so now, with a little over 2 weeks left of escrow... we'll be moving!!! Great news! Fabulous news! Then just as we were enjoying our great news, we got our sad news - - Steve's father passed away. He's had some heart issues for quite some time and yesterday he went to be with the Lord.
Rainee and I never had the opportunity to meet him, which I'm really sad about... but I know someday we will. So Steve, in the midst of all the chaos, will be going to New York for a few days with his brothers. Which will be a good for the boys to be there together... and good for me too... you know how men are when you're moving? ugh.
So today I will continue to go with the flow... you know how moving can be... hectic... crazy busy... happy to go... sad to leave... turning things on... and off... so for the next few weeks I'll be taking some Starbucks breaks for my computer time away... oh thank goodness for Starbucks! Be patient with me... I'm in moving mode.
What about you? What is your favorite thing about moving? Packing? Unpacking?
Me? I like UN packing, organizing and finding new homes for all of my things. Throwing out the boxes one by one is very satisfying.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your father in law. It's always hard to loose a parent. Well, anyone for that matter. Congrats on the house. My husband and I are dealing with the same thing. Trying to find one you like that isn't gone by the time you decide to put in an offer has been a challenge in the San Diego area. I love organizing. So packing and having new spaces to play with is always fun. For awhile.
ReplyDeleteMichelle, You have our prayers as does Steve. The internet is a weird creature. It allows us to connect with family we don't even know we have. I've actually made contact with someone in India, carried on a conversation and then our family eventually met him. He's a fiery evangelist in a Christ hating nation. So here I am feeling your pain though you're 1300 miles away.
ReplyDeleteI know the pains of moving. We moved 14 times in the first seven years of our marriage. Whew. Good thing; you learn not to be so quick to buy stuff you may have to move. Bad thing, it's hard to keep in contact with folks when you move. Good thing; you can keep more organized by dumping stuff you haven't seen in years. Bad thing; you're tempted to throw out everything just so you don't have to pack it again.
Count it all joy when you fall into various trials knowing that the trying of your faith employs patience. Hey when Miss Patience has finished her job you are entire and lacking nothing. Yeah!
The journey is half of the adventure.

I've noticed that one end is usually in the company of one begining...just to remind us that everything is changing and that this is the way it has to be.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you because a new home gives you the oppurtunity to start again in a better way some little things that in the end matters. And you'll be enjoying making a new home. I love unpacking. It's like your staff being reborn and taking fresh air. It's like meditating.
Enjoy it!!!
I'm sorry about Steve's Dad. But so very happy for you that you are getting the new house! Yay!
ReplyDeleteI despise moving...packing and unpacking. But the excitement of a new chapter in life...even tho I am a creature of habit...definitely has its own appeal.
Congratulations!!!
Ohhh! So sorry to hear about your loss!....and your moving too! 2 of life's biggest stessor's happening at once for you!....be sure to take plenty of those Starbucks breaks! ((((HUGS)))) ~Gabrielle
ReplyDeleteHi there,
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of you and will be praying for the whole family over this difficult time.
God Bless
Hello.. Is there a way you can add the "Follow Me" feature to your blog so that I can catch all of your updates?.. I had email subscribed, but don't get email that often..
ReplyDeleteMichelle...I am so happy about the news of your new HOME! And, so saddened to hear about your loss. My prayers are with you, Steve and Rainee in this time of loss.
ReplyDeleteBlessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

I am sending your family my heart felt prayers. The loss of a loved one is difficult. But Like Karen quoted...you will be given comfort. God now has another angel in heaven watching over your household.
ReplyDeleteWow, a new home! I am so happy for you & Steve & Rainee! What wonderful news! Let the adventures begin. Good luck with all of the packing, and unpacking... and the fun and excitement. Embrace the changes. I imagine Champ is included too with your new Home Sweet Home!
I'm so sorry to hear about your FIL. I just came to find your blog through a scrapbooking video on Youtube. I myself am into art journaling (or messy scrapbooking haha) and we are also getting ready to move. I look forward to following your blog!
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
First - condolences on the loss of Steve's dad. But, also congrats on your new house! Moving is a mix of emotions, both happy and sad, isn't it? Leaving the familiar past and heading out for the uncertain future. I'm sure it will go well. Keep us posted :-)
ReplyDeleteAs for men and moving... someone has to do the "heavy lifting" & someone has to do the "heavy looking on" as Grandpa Fitzl used to tell Bill when he was a kid! ~ MJ
Sorry about your loss.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part about moving is everything but the 'moving' part. I like to pack and unpack. Just not actually move and lift the boxes and furniture. I love painting the new place and organizing. Oh, and I love that I buy 'new stuff' (kitchenware, towels, curtains, etc.)
So good luck with everything.
